Press Conferences of EPP Group

Exchange of views with the Swedish Presidency
From Monday to Thursday, Ministers from the Swedish Government will present their work programme and priorities of the Swedish Presidency in meetings with the parliamentary committees.

Hearings of new Commissioners-Designate
Paweł Samecki, a former Board Member of Poland' s National Bank, has been nominated for the post of European Commissioner for Regional Policy. Regional Development Committee Members will hold an exchange of views with him on Wednesday from approximately 16:00 to 17.30.
A former Lithuanian Minister of Finance, Algirdas Šemeta, has been nominated for the post of European Commissioner for Financial Programming and Budget. Committee Members will have the hearing on Tuesday.
Commissioner-Designate for Development, Karel de Gucht, will be questioned in the Development Committee on Tuesday.
The Parliament will vote on supporting the Commissioners' appointment at the September plenary session.

Partnership with Tajikistan
Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee will vote on the assent of the PCA with the EC and Tajikistan and a draft political Resolution which sets out the problems the country is facing and makes a number of recommendations to both Tajikistan and the international community. "It is time to engage with Tajikistan within the deeper framework which the PCA would provide", Alojz Peterle MEP, the Rapporteur, says.
